Today marks two very important events. First, we celebrate today as the birth of our country. I am proud to be an American, but not just today. We all take living in the US for granted. Everyone is free to live as he sees fit. I've been thinking a lot lately about what it means to be free and might write more about that. Anyway, Happy Independence Day!
On a more personal note, today is my husband's 25th birthday. He will be the first to tell you that he doesn't make a big deal about birthdays, let alone his own. Being my husband though, I do make a big deal about it, but probably not the way most people would. We don't get each other a lot of gifts, at least not for birthdays. Each of us get most everything we want or need during the year. So for birthdays and holidays we usually take some kind of trip or go do something fun together. TOGETHER. That is the point, isn't it? We would much rather spend a day or weekend somewhere special then unwrap a trinket with no meaning. We do give gifts, but sometimes a weekend getaway is much more enjoyable. I am so thankful for my husband and for the life we have together. Here's to more birthdays and years together!
